Bumped

Bumped was a terrible book. The story takes place in a future where only teenagers can get pregnant. One of the main characters, Melody, barely had a personality. Her twin, Harmony, didn’t either except that she was very religious. The book is written without using rich vocabulary or metaphors and similes, which makes the sentences very boring. The language could be easily read by 5th graders, and the topics discussed, such as pregnancy, adoption, and religion, are written as if they are in black and white. This detracts from one of the purposes of the story--to be thought-provoking.
