Nightspell

NightSpell sounds interesting, but once I picked it up a couple of months ago, I simply could not finish it. The plot did not make any sense to me, and the characterization wasn''t very strong in my opinion. However, this book is good for younger children who would like to read a fantasy book, but for me, as a teenager reading this book, it seemed too shallow.

The Detention Club

I liked The Detention Club for lots of different reasons.  First of all, there is a science fair coming up and on the first day that Peter starts to brainstorm he makes up about 20 wacky ideas (none of them work).  Second, he ends up making friends with the school bullies at detention and helps the other kids do the same.  All of these events lead up to a shocking conclusion. This book is a fun read and there was nothing I did not like about it.

Nightspell

Nightspell is advertised as a companion novel, but I would recommend reading the other novel Mistwood first. I did not, and found myself slightly confused at some points in the book. Overall, I would say that is was good, but I found that something was lacking. It was a fun read but I haven’t thought of it since, so I would only recommend it if you like fantasy that is fun and light but easily forgettable.

The Vampire Stalker

I loved the beginning of The Vampire Stalker. I was hooked until about page 200. Then things got stupid. Let me just preface this by saying that I am not against romance in books, in fact, I think that it adds a lot of interest. But when people start proclaiming there undying love for each other after knowing each other for two days, I stop enjoying the story. It might just be the cynic in me, but I thought it was incredibly unrealistic. I found that the only way I could get through it was to laugh at it and therefore wouldn’t recommend it to others.

The Storm: Dogs of the Drowned City

The Storm: Dogs of the Drowned City is very addicting. I've read it two times myself. I recommend this if you like adventure and dogs. The main character, Shep, is a dog that couldn't go to the tornado shelter because it was dog-free, so Shep goes out and rescues other dogs and they try to survive. This book is suspenseful and the main question is will Shep survive?
