The Templeton Twins Have an Idea

The Templeton Twins Have an Idea is the funniest book I have ever read.

In every chapter there is a little box with questions for review written in it. One question that will give you the idea of the writing is this:

"Why is it a good idea to call something that sinks a sinker? Write your answer in the form of a brief opera."

The entire book is written with side comments and questions and editorial comments like:

"actually what the man had said was let's do it and then review it but John misheard his snappier version. It's just as well, don't you think? Don't you believe as I do that things should be as snappy as possible? Oh please. Yes, you do."

The Templeton twins left me laughing my head off!

Masque of the Red Death

Masque of Red Death has many pros such as a very interesting plot and very good vocabulary for 7th and 8th grade levels and beyond. The characters are likeable at most but will anger you sometimes. There are some spelling errors but that is expected for ARCs and there was a scene where the main character , Araby, blacks out from drugs in which you don’t know what’s happening. I give this book personally 4.5 out of 5 stars due to some errors. I recommend this book to science fiction and romance lovers.

The Storm Makers

Storm Makers is a fast-paced adventure novel. Simon and Ruby may seem like normal kids, but all this changes when a stranger appears at their home. He tells them that Simon is a storm maker - someone who can control the weather.

Now, Simon and Ruby must embark on a perilous quest to stop another storm maker who has deadly plans. While reading you not only experience adventure and fantasy, you also learn about two young twins growing apart, and learning how to come back together again.

One thing I liked about this book is that it is very fast-paced, and you never have a moment of boredom.

I would recommend this book to anyone ages 8-13 looking for a blend of science and fantasy.

Social Suicide

Social Suicide is an exciting and suspenseful mystery. After reading the first book in the series Deadly Cool, I was excited to read this one. It was just as good as the last one and I would really suggest this as a good book to read. Social Suicide has a very intense plot line and it kept me reading until late at night.

It is about the main character Hartley Featherstone who finds a dead body. The police are convinced that it is a suicide, but Hartley thinks otherwise. She is determined to prove that it is a murder. Is Hartley right? And if so, to what measures will the killer go to to not have the truth uncovered?

The Selection

If you liked Matched, by Ally Condie, you should read The Selection. It’s about America Singer, who’s chosen to compete against 34 other girls to marry the prince and become queen. I read this book in one day, and the cliffhanger ending leaves you hoping for a sequel. With action, suspense, romance, and life changing decisions, The Selection is a great book that I recommend.

Supergirl Mixtapes

When Maria goes to live with her estranged mother from New York, she falls in love with the city and the life style her mother leads. But soon, she discovers a dark secret that threatens everything, and overturns the way she views the world.

Supergirl Mixtapes is a great, fast read. My only issue with it was that it takes a very superficial view on some really intense topics, and never really takes you to a place where you feel like you know what the characters are feeling. However, I would recommend this book because it is really fun and enjoyable.

The Selection

America finds herself in a competition to become the next princess of her country, all the while longing for the man that she loves.

The Selection is very reminiscent of The Hunger Games. It was very fast-paced, I read it all in one night because I simply couldn't put it down. I would definitely recommend it.
