The Genius Files: Mission Unstoppable

The Genius Files: Mission Impossible is a great fast-paced action-packed book about two twins, Coke and Pepsi, who wind up in a secret organization called The Genius Files. Their journey takes them from state to state, from here to there.

This is Dan Gutman’s best action-packed book so far. What to know more? Well then read on to find out.

EllRay Jakes Is Not a Chicken

EllRay Jakes Is Not a Chicken is a good book because it is a really fun book to read because EllRay has trouble with Jared the bully in his class. One time EllRay’s dad made a deal that he could go to Disney World if he behaved at school. One time Jared and EllRay had a fight in a park then Jared jumped out of a tree and hit EllRay and EllRay hit Jared on the nose and he had a nose bleed. When EllRay was going to Disney World Jared wanted to come so EllRay’s dad called Jared’s parents and they said he could come and they had fun.

A True Princess

Twelve-year-old Lilia and her friend Karina must save her best friend Kai from a terrible enchantment caused by the Elf King! She only has two weeks to save him by getting Odin's cloak clasp. I would totally recommend A True Princess to my friends! This is like a book I've read before it is called The Two Princesses of Bamarre By Gail Carson Levine. I like this book because it makes you want to see how Lilia's adventure turns out. I really liked this book I loved everything about the book.

EllRay Jakes Is Not a Chicken

I like EllRay Jakes Is Not a Chicken because it’s a mystery what’s going to happen next. In this story there’s a boy named Ellray Jakes around age 8 with only two real friends, everybody else is mean or he doesn’t want play with them. Jared “the meanest boy in the class”  has a partner Stanley together they plan an evil fight against Ellray. Ellray ends up going to Disney world because he went through a week without getting in trouble, but he didn’t know Jared would come with him, but it turns out to be fun.

Leverage

Leverage is one of the best books I've ever read. The book is about two students: a tiny gymnast, and an immensely huge football player who are on opposite sides in a deadly prank war. It is so much like the real world I felt like it was real at many times. The quality of writing is superb, and the pacing is perfectly, deliciously suspenseful. I love the alternating voices it is told in, and the characters are very solid. The author has masterfully captured high school life.  For older readers.

Cryer's Cross

Cryer's Cross has to be one of the worst books I have ever read. So awful in fact, I put off this review for four months because I dreaded ever having to think about the book again. I found it the other day and felt like enough time had gone by and I could finally put to words exactly what I disliked about the book.

Cryer's Cross was an extremely graphic mystery / horror novel. The end of the book was not only a disappointment, but felt like the end of a bad low budget horror film. In the book, the main character, Kendall Fletcher's best friend and "boyfriend" Nico Cruz, disappear five days after another girl in town has gone missing. The cover might look intriguing, it did to me at least, but this book is most definitely not worth anyone's time, in my opinion.

I finished the book extremely disappointed with the conclusion and mad that I had spent time on a novel that had such a poor resolution and took too long to come to a climax.

Pink

My review for the book Pink is that it is an amazing book about how sometimes you are different but you have to make the best with what you have and not try to change yourself. I love this book because it shows that it is hard growing up and being a teenager and there are cliques but if you are true to yourself you will find the place that you really belong.

So Shelly

So Shelly is a fascinating work of literature. It takes authors John Keats, Lord Byron, and Mary Shelley and turns them into modern teenagers. This is not an easy task, however Roth turns their respective lives right into the lives of teens today. For anyone interested in the lives of these famous authors, So Shelly is a good read. For anyone who wants a clever romance, So Shelly is just that. Even if one has not read any of the works by these authors, he or she will still be able to enjoy So Shelly, for it stands on its own.

A Touch Mortal

I liked A Touch Mortal a lot because of he others twist on the whole "life after death" theories. Usually you go to hell or heaven. But in this book there were many options: falling out of heaven, going to heaven, becoming a sider, and fallen. It kept my nose in the book racing to uncover more details about each option. Definitely what made this book interesting was the authors thoughts about afterlife, how she wove the romance into it.  I wouldn't recommend this book to those who are uncomfortable with death, there are many suicides and violent acts.

Kick

In Kick, by Walter Dean Myers and Ross Workman, a good-natured, soccer-loving teenager, Kevin Johnson, is in serious trouble. All he was trying to do was help a friend, and now his future is in jeopardy, unless he and Sergeant Brown, the man assigned to Kevin’s case, can learn to trust each other before its too late. I enjoyed the style in which the book was written, switching between the main characters after each chapter. The book also felt real, seeing as it was not only written by an adult but by a teenager who had similar experiences as well in Ross Workman. All in all, I would highly recommend Kick.

Cloaked

In the book Cloaked, Alex Flinn, author of Beastly and A Kiss in Time, crafts magic into the modern world. It mixes up different fairy tales and sticks them into seventeen-year-old Johnny’s life. Johnny has enough problems running his family’s shoe repair shop, without adding a princess, a curse, and a magic cloak. When a witch turns a prince into a frog there’s bound to be trouble. Readers who like action and humor will love this exciting novel. Prepare to be wrapped up in a magical adventure!

A Touch Mortal

A Touch Mortal was a fun addicting read that completely had me hooked from beginning to end. The plot is about a girl named Eden who falls in love with a boy named Az. Seems simple, doesn’t it? Well that is until you find out that Az is an angel with a dark past, and all of his girlfriends end up getting killed by the devil Lucifer, who prefers to go by Luke. I enjoyed this book and would suggest it to people who like fun romances with a paranormal twist.

The Grave Robber's Secret

The Grave Robber's Secret is an exciting and scary story of a 12-year-old boy named Robert who lives in an Inn run by his mom and dad. One day a man they suspect to be dangerous and his daughter come to stay in one of their rooms. When I read the book it was nearly Halloween and it gave me nightmares! I would recommend it for older kids.

Orchards

I read Orchards in one evening! It’s actually not that fast-paced of a book though: The plot is casual, but intense; it has a way of gripping you, and giving a slow obsession to your mind. The book is written in verse, so points are distinct, and certain words really have a jagged quality when put solitary onto a page. It spikes into your heart, and you only realize that at the moment it happens. People actually die in this book; people actually laugh in this book. It shows you just how human extreme emotions can be.

Angelfire

Her whole life Ellie has been plagued by vivid reoccurring nightmares. In the week before her seventeenth birthday she meets a mysterious stranger, calling himself Will. Who is he and where is he from? Courtney Allison Moulton has created a witty novel, compelling the reader to finish each chapter. If you like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or The Mortal Instruments I would definitely recommend Angelfire.

Desires of the Dead

Desires of the Dead is about a girl named Violet who hears dead people’s auras. This means that she is constantly getting dragged into all kinds of mysteries. I really enjoyed this bo0ok, it dragged me into it and didn’t let go. It was filled with suspense, romance and teen angst and I would recommend it to people who like murder mysteries.

A True Princess

I loved A True Princess because it had an amazing plot and structure. Lilia had to break a spell put over her friend Kai, who was captured by the Elf-King. I would definitely recommend it to my friends. This book was a very fast read. And A True Princess was similar to the Princess and the Pea, but a lot less like a fairytale. I could read it over and over again. This is an amazing book of mystery and runaways!

SkateFate

I thought SkateFate was an interesting book. It is written in poems, so although the vocabulary is simple, to make sense of it you must have an open mind.

It is all about a kid whose father is in Iraq, but he was in a bad accident and now he is in a wheelchair. It tells of how he goes through rehab and learns to skateboard again.

Jenna and Jonah's Fauxmance

Jenna & Jonah's Fauxmance is about the stars of a tween sit com called Jenna and Jonah’s how to be a rock star. And to keep the ratings up Jenna (really named Charlie) and Jonah (called Fielding but who’s real name is Aaron) must pretend to be in love, both on screen and off. That is until something disastrous happens and they are on the run from the paparazzi. Then they might not be pretending anymore. I loved this book, not only was it a very light read it was funny. I would recommended it to people who like chick flicks.

Father of Lies

If you are interested in historical fiction books, with a twist, Father of Lies is the book for you. Its a major page turner of wanting to find out what happens next with Lidda Johnson, the main character, whom is living in a very scary and pressuring time period in the 1600, the time of the Salem Witch trails. The book is about her difficult journeys through this rough time with a disease that is very unknown back then, and her learning some very dangerous secrets. These secrets and her thoughts lead her to be the only one in the town that has different opinions on all the trails there supposed witches. You also meet real life figures and learn some very interesting and spine tingling facts about the Salem Witch Trails. The book leaves it up to you in one big question, was it all truth or all lies? I would highly recommend this book if you are in for some exciting knowledge.
