Daughter of Winter is about a 13 year old girl named Addie who is growing up during the 1800s in the shipbuilding town of Essex. When her dad leaves for California to dig for gold and her mother and brother die, she has many adventures trying to survive and protect the old Wampanoag women who takes her in. I think that kids will really enjoy reading about Addie's adventures.
