Icefall

At first, Icefall seemed like a cheesy book because of the plot. The plot seems so predictable. But Mathew J. Kirby puts his own spin on the plot to liven things up. I really liked the loyalty of Hake the Berserker. He wanted to stay behind so the princesses and prince could escape the evil army, but the main character, Solveig, who is also one of the princesses, has a kind, brave heart, and doesn’t let him stay. I also loved Solveig’s teacher, who hadn’t picked a side in the war, but at the last minute, he announces that he has picked a side, and you think he has picked the evil side, when he is killing himself for the royal children.
