TheSelection was an amazing book. It takes place in the futuristic country of Illéa, where citizens are categorized from castes of one to nine, one being royalty, and nine being uneducated and most likely a criminal. The main character is America Singer, a five, who thinks her life will forever be normal. Going on in the country is the Selection, a drawing where girls are randomly selected to contend for Prince Maxon’s heart in hopes of becoming his princess. Even though she doesn’t completely agree, America enters the competition. You can imagine how surprised she is when she is one of the thirty-five girls picked. Now America’s life is anything but average. This book was compelling until the last sentence. I would recommend this to anyone who liked Matched or enjoys a good, fast read, love story. I can’t wait for the sequel!
