I really liked The Shadow Society and couldn't put it down once I started. Recommended to all.

Shadow and Bone

In Shadow and Bone, you are introduced into a world that I think is based off of Russia. You get to know the main character, Alina, really well and when she is in a tight spot you are on the edge of your seat. After you start liking Alina, you reach out to everyone around her. Mal, Genya, even the deer. You understand them all. The book is masterfully written and leaves you wishing that the book wasn't done. I recommend it for people ten years of age and up, because some parts might be too scary or freaky for younger kids.

Supergirl Mixtapes

When Maria goes to live with her estranged mother from New York, she falls in love with the city and the life style her mother leads. But soon, she discovers a dark secret that threatens everything, and overturns the way she views the world. 

Supergirl Mixtapes is a great, fast read. My only issue with it was that it takes a very superficial view on some really intense topics, and never really takes you to a place where you feel like you know what the characters are feeling. However, I would recommend this book because it is really fun and enjoyable.

Prized

Sequel to Birthmarked, Prized was every bit as good. It involved all the things that its prequel had, fast-paced action, mystery, and romance to make it a very fun and quick read that I greatly enjoyed. I would recommend reading its prequel first though, or you might not get all of the subtle tension that boils throughout this book.

Dead End in Norvelt

I was both surprised and overjoyed when I read the last name Gantos on the spine of Dead End in Norvelt. I have read many other things by Jack Gantos, including the Joey Pigsza series, which I found extremely enjoyable. But I have to say, in comparison, this story towers over any other books written about the war and what it was like growing up in it. Now, be careful in choosing this book to read because although some may find it enjoyable and heartwarming, others may be moved in the wrong direction and receive the author’s message in an alternate way.

Glow

I loved Glow. The first chapter had me absorbed in the book until I couldn’t put it down!  As one of my now most favorite books, Glow will have many other future readers attached until the very end. The characters, scrumptious plot, and fast-paced events in this book have made it altogether irresistable. 

The story is of two young lovers that are aboard a huge spaceship on their way to New Earth. The couple suffers separation when another ship just like it kidnaps the girl (Waverly) along with many other girls aboard her ship onto the other ship because they are in need of more of them, leaving Waverly’s home ship, parents, friends, and everything she knew behind. Meanwhile, the ship holding Waverly and the other girls captive, try to destroy her home ship killing most of the adults and leaving the rest of the adults sick and dying so that the kids must fend for themselves. Waverly’s boyfriend Kieran must now take over as captain while dealing with rage that is starting on his own ship as well as trying to get the kidnapped girls back from the enemy ship.

Readers will have their eyes glued to the pages of this book to see what happens between the two ships and within them. This fascinating read will captivate many!

All These Things I've Done

All These Things I've Done is a modern take on Romeo and Juliet. Anya is the daughter of a mafia don who made his money producing chocolate, which in 2083 is illegal. Her boyfriend's dad is the head of hte police department who doesn't want them to be together. This book contains the elements of a crime novel with a budding romance. It is fast-paced with great character development and many exciting twists and turns.

Hades

Hades was a really good book. It reminded me of the story of Persephone being abducted by Hades. In this story, she is taken to Hades. The main character is an angel named Bethany who was tricked into being brought to Hades by a devil named Jake who loves her. Bethany was in Hades while her brother and sister (who are angels), boyfriend, and best friend are trying to save her. I thought it was a fantastic book and recommend it to other kids who are in middle school.

The Fox Inheritance

There are very few books where you get to the end and you feel shell-shocked because you just read such an amazing book. The Fox Inheritance is one of them. It takes place 216 years in the future and is told from the point of view of Jenna’s two best friends, Locke and Kara, whose bodies have been recreated, much like Jenna’s. But what happens if all of you didn’t get copied correctly? What makes a person human? And how do you tell if they’re not? 

I would only recommend it if you have read the first and are all brushed up on the finer details of it, I had to go back and read the first on half way through this one because I found myself getting the characters confused. However if you do this The Fox Inheritance is a sensational read that I would defiantly recommend.
